Brent Barrett, Michael Cerveris, Melissa Errico Preview Upcoming 54 Below Concerts

Vocalists Brent Barrett, Michael Cerveris, Melissa Errico, Terese Genecco, and Lance Roberts took the stage at 54 Below on Wednesday, October 24 to offer short previews of their upcoming concerts at the venue.

Cerveris, joined by vocalist Kimberly Kaye and their band Loose Cattle, sang Buddy and Julie Miller’s “Gasoline and Matches,” with Gabriel Caplan on electric guitar, Lorenzo Wollf on upright bass, Eddie Zweiback on drums, and Justin Smith on fiddle. The group will be appearing in concert on November 2 and 3.

With Brendan Whitting on piano, Roberts serenaded the crowd with the Johnny Mercer and Barry Manilow favorite “When October Comes,” a selection from his October 31 show, Cadavaret: Broadway’s Halloween Cabaret.

From his evening-themed, October 29 concert Night Songs, Barrett performed the sultry tune “Romantic Notions.”

Joined by longtime accompanist Ricky Ritzel, Mac Award-winner Terese Genecco set the room swinging as the pair performed “I Wish I Could Shimmy Like My Sister Kate,” from their November 4 tribute to singer Frances Faye.

Errico concluded the preview offering the Hugh Martin/Ralph Blane standard “The Boy Next Door,” an excerpt from her show, which is directed by Richard Jay-Alexander and runs October 30-November 3.
