Anna Deavere Smith will be honored with the 2009 Moth Award at the Moth Ball, an evening celebrating The Moth, the 12-year-old non-profit organization dedicated to the art of storytelling, on Monday, November 17 at Capitale.

Hosted by Garrison Keillor and Jonathan Ames, the gala will also feature one-minute stories told by ten recent winners of the New York and Los Angeles GrandSLAMs and the awarding of a $5,000 scholarship to a New York City high school student who excels at storytelling.

Smith is currently appearing Off-Broadway in her solo show, Let Me Down Easy. Her other works include Twilight: Los Angeles 1992 and Fires in the Mirror. She also currently co-stars in Showtime's Nurse Jackie.
