Christine Ebersole and Billy Stritch to Kick Off Winter Season at Birdland

“The Winter Season” of 7pm Monday night concerts at Birdland (315 West 44th Street) featuring top Broadway and cabaret performers will begin on November 8 and 15 with Christine Ebersole & Billy Stritch. Ebersole won a 2001 Tony Award for her star-turn in 42nd Street, then teamed with castmate Stritch for cabaret runs at Feinstein’s at the Regency in NYC and the Cinegrill in Los Angeles. The Birdland show will celebrate the release of the CD “In Your Dreams” — a studio re-creation of the show that Ebersole and Stritch have been performing across the country — on the Ghostlight label. At Birdland, the duo will perform songs from the album, including “Fine and Dandy,” “The Surrey With the Fringe On Top,” “My Ship,” and “You’re Getting To Be A Habit With Me.” The cover is $30 with an additional $10 food and drink minimum, and reservations can be made by calling 212-581-3080.

Presented by Jim Caruso in association with TheaterMania.com, “The Winter Season” at Birdland will also include a new show by Alice Ripley (November 22); Jeff Marx and Robert Lopez, the Tony Award-winning composers of Avenue Q, in their first public performance together (November 29); Karen Mason in her annual Christmas concert (December 13); and songwriter Georgia Stitt in concert with a star-studded cast (December 27). Future shows will feature Stephanie J. Block, Max von Essen, Natalie Douglas, and the songwriting team of Marcy Heisler & Zina Goldrich.

Birdland is also the home of Jim Caruso’s Cast Party, the weekly, late-night-Monday showbiz gathering that offers impromptu performances by established stars and up-and-comers from the worlds of musical theater, jazz, and nightclubs.
