Debra Jo Rupp Will Star in the New York Premiere of Becoming Dr. Ruth

The Mark St. Germain comedy will be directed by Julianne Boyd.

Mark St. Germain’s warmhearted new comedy, Becoming Dr. Ruth, is set to have its New York premiere October 11-January 12 at the Westside Theatre. The play, which stars That ’70s Show‘s Debra Jo Rupp, will have its official opening on October 29. Julianne Boyd will direct.

Becoming Dr. Ruth follows the pioneering radio and television sex therapist from her experiences fleeing the Nazis in the Kindertransport and joining the Haganah in Jerusalem as a scout and sniper, to her struggles to succeed as a single immigrating to America. This production follows the show’s world premiere at Barrington Stage Company and its sold-out run at TheaterWorks, in Hartford, Connecticut.

The design team includes Brian Prather (sets), Jen Moeller (costumes), Scott Pinkney (lights), and Jessica Paz (sound).
