Open Call to Be Held for Young Actresses to Play Title Role in Broadway’s Matilda the Musical

The producers of Matilda the Musical will hold an open call to cast four young actresses who will play the title role in the Broadway production. The casting session will be held on Sunday, September 30 at Pearl Studios (519 Eighth Avenue in New York City), with check-in at 10am in Studio C, with auditions beginning at 11am.

Girls 8-10 years old, who are 4’4” or under, are being sought to play the part. Interested parties should bring sheet music for a short song (an accompanist will be provided) and prepare a short story or poem in the style of Roald Dahl.

No prior experience is necessary. No other roles will be cast at this call.

As previously reported, The Royal Shakespeare Company’s production of Matilda The Musical will play Broadway’s Shubert Theatre, beginning previews March 4, 2013 with an opening on April 11. Featuring a book by Dennis Kelly and music and lyrics by Tim Minchin, the show centers on a little girl with astonishing wit, intelligence and psychokinetic powers.
