The film, which features screenplay by Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci and Jeff Pinkner, based on a previous draft by James Vanderbilt, is set for release in 3D on May 2, 2014. Garfield plays the central role of Peter Parker/Spider-Man.

Garfield appeared on Broadway in 2012's Death of a Salesman, receiving a Tony nomination for his portrayal of Biff.
