Gaga for Googie

Rosie Perez, Kevin Chamberlain, and Terrence McNally share their excitement about the Roundabout's upcoming revival of The Ritz.

Audiences howled with laughter 32 years ago when they first viewed The Ritz, Terrence McNally's uproarious farce about a man who hides out in a gay bathhouse in an attempt to escape the mob, and they're sure to do so again at the Roundabout Theatre Company's revival of the play at Studio 54. TheaterMania recently talked with the playwright and stars Kevin Chamberlin and Rosie Perez (as aspiring singer Googie Gomez) on why they waited seven years to make this production happen, why the play has to be set in the 1970s, and the joys and challenges of working on this classic comedy.
