Tonner Doll Company to Release Collection Inspired by Broadway’s Memphis

Tonner Doll Company will release The Memphis Collection, inspired by the 2010 Tony Award-winning Broadway musical Memphis, which wraps up its run at the Shubert Theatre on August 5, and just opened its national tour production at Los Angeles’ Pantages Theatre.

The collection will feature the stylish fashions based on the stage production, and is not only the company’s first Broadway property, but also the first to feature an interracial doll couple: Felica and Huey.

According to press notes, the “Felicia figure will arrive on Tonner’s 16″ Tyler Wentworth™ body style in the spice skin tone, and features a brand new head sculpt with rooted dark brown Saran hair, and painted brown eyes. She will come wearing her beguiling pale gold chiffon dress complete with delicate silver and gold metallic embroidered detailing, gold shoes and jewelry.”

Further, “Huey will arrive on Tonner’s 17″ Matt O’Neill body style in the Tyler skin tone, and is also a brand new head sculpt with molded hair and painted blue eyes. Huey’s authentic costume includes the polka-dotted jacket lined in black and white leopard print, black and white checked pants, and hip polka-dotted and striped shirt. His ensemble is topped off with his signature charcoal gray hat.”

The Memphis Collection is now available for pre-order at www.tonnerdoll.com.
