2007 IT Awards Announce Honorary Award Winners

A.R.T/New York, playwright Doric Wilson, and the Rising Phoenix Repertory Company will receive honorary awards at the 2007 New York Innovative Theatre (IT) Awards, which honor the best of Off-Off-Broadway, to take place on September 24 at the Haft Auditorium at the Fashion Institute of Technology. The event will be hosted by Julie Halston.

Shows that received multiple nominations this year included The Country Wife, West Moon Street, Picasso at the Lapin Agile, Trophy Wife, The Flood, and Waxing West. Among the many acting nominees are Keir Dullea (Strings), Judith Hawking (West Moon Street), Susan Louise O’Connor (the silent concerto), Joe Plummer (As You Like It), and Mark Setlock (Never Tell).

Halston’s many New York stage credits include Hairspray, Gypsy, The Women, and Twentieth Century. She has appeared in numerous plays by Charles Busch, including Vampire Lesbians of Sodom and You Should Be So Lucky. The pair is currently co-starring in the Bay Street Theatre production of Busch’s The Lady in Question.
