The event honored composer Frank Wildhorn, and featured music by Wildhorn, as well as Jason Robert Brown, Laurence O'Keefe, Damon Intrabartolo, Kirsten Guenther, Jon Hartmere, and Jeff Thomson. Michael Schwartz directed the program.

Additional participants included American Idol contestant Donald Webber, Jr., ESPN anchor Reischea Canidate, recording artists Karmina, and performers Sarah Benjamin, Julie Boardman, Danielle Faitelson, Briga Heelan, Laurie Hymes, and Lara Janine.

The Tommy Awards honor extraordinary contributions made by University of Southern California alumni to New York's business, cultural, sports and philanthropic communities. All proceeds benefit the USC Alumni Club of New York's scholarship fund for current and incoming students.
