Anytime sex supports a worthy cause, we’re there! The annual Broadway Bares extravaganzas, in which some of the New York theater’s hottest performers strut their stuff to benefit Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS, is one of very few events that fit that description. This year’s show was directed by Denis Jones under the aegis of executive producer Jerry Mitchell, who initiated the idea of Broadway Bares lo these many years ago. Pictured here right before the second of two performances at Roseland last night is Timothy Bish, whom you may have seen around town on posters advertising the event.
As you can well imagine, things got pretty hot backstage at Roseland. Here’s the sizzling Christina Applegate with actor Vincent DePaul.
Here’s Shoshana Bean, who belted out the opening number…
…and here’s Jai Rodriguez, wearing DSquared briefs, getting his MAC body make-up applied. (It’s a tough job, but somebody’s got to do it.)
Doctor Niles Crane — i.e., David Hyde Pierce — will see you now!
Also on staff: Nurse Brooke Tansley…
…Nurse Leslie Kritzer…
…and three docs who would definitely cause us to ask, “What’s up?”: Cheyenne Jackson, Tim Curry, and Christopher Sieber.
Now we bring you some photos from the various sequences of the show itself. Here’s AntiGravity’s “Sperm Bank.”
“Strip/Tuck.”
“The Study of Man” (with Timothy Bish down front).
The Living Art of Armando’s “Cherokee Shaman” — performed to recordings by Cher, natch.
The amazing Todd Hunter and company in “Sex Ed.”
Finally, here’s a captured moment from the “rotation” after the show, with Cheyenne Jackson calling the shots.
