Camp Broadway is seeking 400 children, ages 9-13, from around the country to perform in the opening number of the 79th annual Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, to be held in New York City on November 24. The number, “We Give Thanks Today,” was written by composer-lyricist Andrew Lippa (The Wild Party).

If accepted to the week-long program, children (or their parents) must pay a program fee of $475, not including travel or housing. Among the benefits of the program are professional rehearsals, make-up tips, a commemorative CD of the Lippa song, a Macy’s Parade pin and t-shirt, and a cast pizza party.

Auditions will be held in 12 cities. The schedule is as follows: Tempe, AZ (June 18); Fort Lauderdale, FL (June 26); Tampa, FL (June 27); San Francisco, CA (July 6); New York, NY (July 16 and August 6); Atlanta, GA (July 17); Detroit, MI (July 23); Buffalo, NY (July 24); Providence, RI (August 13); Dallas, TX (August 20); Saint Louis, MO (August 28); and Boston, MA (September 10). Auditionees should wear dance shoes and comfortable clothes; they’ll be asked to perform a dance combination that will be taught by a Broadway choreographer.
