Audra McDonald Takes to The Colbert Report With Her Spot-On Impression of Billie Holiday

The five-time Tony winner and star of ”Lady Day at Emerson’s Bar & Grill” matches wits with Colbert before blowing “What a Little Moonlight Can Do” out of the water.

If Billie Holiday were alive today, she would almost certainly be best friends with Stephen Colbert, with their shared knacks for storytelling and disdain for authority. Of course, Holiday died over half a century ago, but fortunately Tony winner Audra McDonald is channeling her nightly in the new Broadway show Lady Day at Emerson's Bar & Grill. McDonald's recent appearance on The Colbert Report featured both a delightful conversation about Billie's legacy and a stirring rendition of "What a Little Moonlight Can Do."
