Tony Award-nominated Peter and the Starcatcher playwright Rick Elice is coming to New World Stages to participate in a talkback with audience members following the May 15 evening performance. Also joining him will be dramaturg Ken Cerniglia, who will discuss how they worked together to adapt Ridley Pearson’s novel Peter and the Starcatchers (plural) for the stage.

This will be Elice’s first talkback appearance at New World Stages, the play’s new off-Broadway home. Peter and the Starcatcher, a prequel to J.M. Barrie’s story of Peter Pan, opened at Broadway’s Brooks Atkinson Theatre (following an acclaimed run at New York Theatre Workshop) on April 15, 2012, where it played 319 performances before opening off-Broadway on March 18, 2013. The Broadway production received nine Tony Award nominations including one for Best Play. It won five: Best Featured Actor in a Play (Christian Borle), Best Scenic Design of a Play, Best Costume Design of a Play, Best Lighting Design of a Play, and Best Sound Design of a Play.
