Manhattan Theatre Club's Tony Award-nominated production of Richard Greenberg's The Assembled Parties has extended its run at Broadway's Samuel J. Friedman Theatre through Sunday, July 7. Directed by MTC Artistic Director Lynne Meadow, the drama officially opened on April 17.
Jessica Hecht, Jeremy Shamos, and Tony Award winner Judith Light lead the company of the new work, which is set on Christmas Eves in 1980 and 2000. As an Upper West Side Jewish family gathers for dinner, a houseguest insinuates himself into the dynamic and ends up becoming a bigger part of their lives than anyone expected. The company also includes Mark Blum, Jonathan Walker, Jake Silbermann, Lauren Blumenfeld, and Alex Dreier.
The Assembled Parties was nominated for three 2013 Tony Awards, including Best Play, Best Scenic Design of a Play (Santo Loquasto), and Best Featured Actress (Judith Light). It received four Drama Desk nominations and three Drama League nominations.
The creative team for The Assembled Parties includes Santo Loquasto (scenic design), Jane Greenwood (costume design), Peter Kaczorowski (lighting design), Obadiah Eaves (original music & sound design), and Tom Watson (hair and wig design).
