Plays by Mia Chung, J.C. Lee, Ethan Lipton, Nastaran Ahmadi Set for Playwrights Realm’s INK’D

Playwrights Realm is set to present INK’D, its free four-play reading series of works in development by Writing Fellows Mia Chung, J.C. Lee, Ethan Lipton, and Nastaran Ahmadi, May 15-18 at The Wild Project. All readings are at 7pm and are followed by a reception.

On May 15, Meiyin Wang will direct You for Me for You by Mia Chung, the story of two North Korean sisters who make a bargain with a smuggler to flee to the United States. Then, on May 16, J.C. Lee’s The Inexplicable Disappearance of Hector Villaraigosa, a play about a man who mysteriously disappears and a girl who’s sure it was aliens, will be directed by Stephen Brackett.

Mike Donahue will direct Ethan Lipton’s Red-Handed Otter, a workplace comedy about the how one animal changes the lives of five people, on May 17. The series’ final presentation will be Exile by Nastaran Ahmadi. In this play, directed by Pirronne Yousefzadeh, an Iranian-American video game tester develops a game set in a post-nuclear-apocalypse Iran.
