Julliard President Joseph W. Polisi presented the honorary degrees to the artists and cultural leaders. Polisi, celebrating his 25th year as president of the school, inaugurated the School's tradition of presenting honorary doctoral degrees at commencement in 1987.

Additional 2010 honorary degree recipients included Frank Corsaro, Glorya Kaufman, and Henry Louis de La Grange.
