The Apartment, Arsenic and Old Lace, et al. to Be Shown in Bryant Park

The line-up for this year’s HBO Bryant Park Summer Film Festival, to run Monday nights June 16-August 18, has been announced. Screenings are free and begin at sunset; the park’s lawn opens for seating at 5pm.

Among the movies to be screened will be the film versions of the plays The Man Who Came to Dinner, starring Bette Davis and Monte Wooley (July 7), and Arsenic and Old Lace, starring Cary Grant and directed by Frank Capra (July 21), as well as Billy Wilder’s Oscar-winning drama The Apartment, starring Shirley MacLaine and Jack Lemmon, which later became the basis for the musical Promises, Promises! (July 28).

Also on tap will be Dr. No (June 16), Bride of Frankenstein (June 23), Hud (June 30), Fail-Safe (July 14), Lifeboat (August 4), The Candidate (August 11), and Superman (August 18).

Bryant Park is also home to numerous other free events, including the annual Broadway in Bryant Park series, which will run Thursday afternoons, July 10-August 14.
