Noted film director John Waters will bring his one-man spoken word “vaudeville” act This Filthy World to London’s Hammersmith Apollo Theatre at 7pm on Thursday, September 18.

The show, expanded and updated from an earlier filmed version, focuses on Waters’ early negative artistic influences, and his fascination with true crime, exploitation films, fashion lunacy, the extremes of the art world, Catholicism, sexual deviancy, and love of reading.

Waters’ film Hairspray has been turned in a Tony Award-winning musical, which has run for more than five years on Broadway and is a smash-hit in London, while the new Broadway musical version of his film Cry-Baby is nominated for four Tony Awards, including Best Musical.

His many other films include Pink Flamingos, Female Trouble, Desperate Living, Polyester, Serial Mom, Cecil B. Demented, and A Dirty Shame.
