Vineyard Theatre has announced plans to produce the world premiere of Peter Lerman & Michael Mayer's musical Brooklynite and Gloria; or Ambition, a new play by Branden Jacobs-Jenkins, as part of its 2014-15 season.

In winter 2015, Tony Award-winning director Michael Mayer (Hedwig and the Angry Inch) will mount Brooklynite. The new musical follows Trey Swieskowski, an idealistic hardware store clerk who dreams of becoming a superhero, and Astrolass, Brooklyn's most celebrated superhero. Together, they hatch a plan that will change their lives forever. But can they save Brooklyn when it suddenly teeters on the brink of disaster? Steven Hoggett will choreograph.

Branden Jacobs-Jenkins will make his Vineyard main stage debut in spring 2015 with Gloria; or Ambition. This new play focuses on an ambitious group of editorial assistants at a famed Manhattan magazine who are hoping for a book deal before they turn 30. Evan Cabnet directs.

The Vineyard Theatre is one of the nation's leading nonprofit theater companies and is dedicated to the creation and production of daring new plays and musicals.
