The line-up is set for Clubbed Thumb’s Summerworks 2009, the company’s 14th annual festival of new plays, to play the Ohio Theatre, June 3- 27.

The festival will begin with Gregory Moss’ punkplay (June 7-13), to be directed by Davis McCallum. Set in the 1980s, it concerns a 13-year-old suburbanite and an angry runaway Duck who attempt to reinvent themselves through punk rock. Next up will be Madeleine George’s Precious Little (June 14-20), to be directed by Hal Brooks. The play centers on a gifted professor of linguistics, who learns the child she’s carrying may have a genetic abnormality. The festival will conclude with Kristin Newbom’s Telethon (June 21-27), to be directed by Ken Rus Schmoll. In it, the staff and patients of a group home for the disabled meet at Dunkin’ Donuts following their seasonal ad-hoc fundraising drives.
