Emmy Award winner Larry Bryggman, David Lansbury and Souleymane Sy Savane will star in The New Group’s Off-Broadway production of Ian Bruce’s Groundswell, to play Theater Row, May 4-June 27, with an opening set for May 18. Scott Elliott will direct the production.

The play is set in South Africa, and involves the power struggle between two men running a beachfront guest lodge, and a retired businessman who they think can finance their scheme to buy into a government-run mining concession.

The creative team will include Derek McLane (set), Eric Becker (costumes), Jason Lyons (lighting), and Shane Rettig (sound).

Bryggman received Tony Award nominations for his work in Proof and Picnic. Additional Main Stem credits include Festen, 12 Angry Men, Prelude to a Kiss, Richard III, and The Basic Training of Pavlo Hummel. He has won two Best Actor Emmy’s for his role of John Dixon in As the World Turns.

This production replaces the previously announced staging of Seth Rosenfeld’s Handball.
