The 52nd Street Project's semi-annual Playmaking series begins with ten children completing a nine-week playwriting course. At the end, the kids are taken (along with their volunteer adult dramaturge/director) out of town for a "writer's retreat" in the countryside. After writing their own plays, each child is given a professional cast to complete the expression of his or her personal vision.
The dramaturge-directors will include Kathleen Foreman, George Babiak, Henry Wishcamper, David Costabile, Sonia Manzano, Liz Flahive, Alex Gersten, Niegel Smith, and Michael Bernard. The show will feature music by Andrew Sherman.
Admission is free, but reservations should be made in advance by calling 212-642-5052.
