Tickets are now available for the 17-week limited engagement run of Christopher Durang’s Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike. The original company, which completed the play’s run at Lincoln Center on January 20 2013, will return for this upcoming production, which is scheduled to begin performances on March 5 and set to open on March 14 at Broadway’s Golden Theatre. The company stars several Broadway veterans including Tony nominee and three-time Oscar nominee Sigourney Weaver (Hurlyburly), Tony winner and four-time Emmy winner David Hyde Pierce (Curtains), and Obie Award winner Kristine Nielsen (Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson). Also featured in the company are Billy Magnussen (As the World Turns), Genevieve Angelson (Army Wives) and Shalita Grant (The Merchant of Venice). Angelson and Grant will both be making their Broadway debuts.

Directed by Nicholas Martin (Present Laughter), Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike riffs on some of Anton Chekov’s most time-tested themes, using the medium of absurd comedy to prove that the human condition never changes. In the play, Vanya (Pierce) and Sonia (Nielsen) are siblings that have led very provincial lives, never having left the confines of their childhood home—a farmhouse in Bucks County PA. However, they receive a surprise visit from their glamorous movie actress sister Masha (Weaver) along with her 20-something boyfriend Spike (Magnussen), which leads to complete upheaval within their typically quiet household.

The production’s creative team includes scenic design by David Korins (Annie), costumes by Emily Rebholz (Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson), lighting by Justin Townsend (The Other Place), and original music and sound design by Mark Bennett (Dead Accounts).
