Gus Kaikkonen to Direct Dr. Knock for Mint Theater

Gus Kaikkonen will direct a revival of Jules Romains’ 1923 satire Dr. Knock, Or The Triumph of Medicine, to run April 14 – May 30 at the Mint Theater. Casting for the production will be announced at a later date.

The comedy focuses on what happens when Dr. Knock buys a small medical practice in the French countryside and then, attempts to run it, using modern business practices. The play debuted in Paris in 1923 and was produced in New York in 1928.

Kaikkonen has previously directed revivals of The Madras House and The Charity That Began at Home for the Mint. Among his other directorial credits are Arms and the Man, The Gentleman Dancing-Master and I Have Been Here Before for the Pearl Theatre.
