Barbra Streisand Will Sing at The Academy Awards for First Time in Three Decades

Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony Award winner (and all-around diva-legend) Barbra Streisand will sing at the 85th Annual Academy Awards, set to take place on February 24. It will be her first Oscar performance in 36 years.

“In an evening that celebrates the artistry of movies and music, how could the telecast be complete without Barbra Streisand?” said telecast producers Craig Zadan and Neil Meron in a statement.

There is no word yet on what the two-time Academy Award winner will sing during the ceremony, which will be hosted by Family Guy creator Seth MacFarlane. Streisand won her first Oscar for Best Actress in 1968 for her portrayal of vaudevillian Fanny Brice in Funny Girl, and her second in 1977 for the original song “Evergreen” from A Star is Born. Her performance of that song at the 50th Oscars marked her only appearance singing on the annual award show.

What will Streisand, who recently embarked on an American and Canadian concert tour, perform? Will she go vintage and sing “People” or “Don’t Rain on My Parade” from Funny Girl? What about “Before the Parade Passes By” from Hello, Dolly!? Or, will she give the diva-worshiping audience a preview of her “Everything’s Coming Up Roses,” a tune from her forth-coming film remake of Gypsy?

One thing’s for certain: we’ll be the luckiest people in the world.
