Houston’s Ensemble Theater to Present Wilson’s Gem of the Ocean

The Ensemble Theatre in Houston, Texas will present August Wilson’s Gem of the Ocean, January 26-February 24. The production, which will open officially on January 31, will be directed by Allie Woods.

The play, which is part of Wilson’s Pittsburgh Hill cycle, concerns Citizen Barlow, a newcomer to Pittsburgh, who decides to make a visit to the mystical Aunt Ester in an effort to cleanse his soul.

The cast will feature Wayne DeHart, Timothy Eric Dickson, Autumn Knight, BeBe Wilson, Troy Hogan, Byron Jacquet, and John Williams Stevens. Woods’ directing credits include the New Federal Theatre’s When the Chickens Come Home to Roost.
