The Two River Theater Company (TRTC) has announced its 2011-2012 season, which will open with a production of Shakespeare’s Much Ado About Nothing, to run September 10 – October 2 in the Joan and Robert Rechnitz Theater. Sam Buntrock will direct this romantic comedy, which will feature Michael Cumpsty.

Other productions scheduled for the Rechnitz Theater include Nilaja Sun’s award-winning solo show about a woman’s experiences as a teaching artist in New York City’s public schools, No Child… (November 1-20); August Wilson’s portrait of a group of unlicensed cab drivers, Jitney (January 31 – February 19), to be directed by Ruben Santiago-Hudson; Maureen McGovern’s musical and autobiographical solo show Carry It On! (April 3-22), and Alan Ayckbourn’s comedy about adults’ bad behavior and the pre-teen who witnesses it, My Wonderful Day (May 15 – June 3), to be directed by Nicholas Martin.

In addition, TRTC will offer a production of the musical Honk! in the Rechnitz, to run December 6 – January 1. With music by George Stiles and book and lyrics by Anthony Drewe, the show, to be directed by Matt Pfeiffer, is a modern-day retelling of Hans Christian Andersen’s The Ugly Duckling.

TRTC will also offer two productions in the Marion Huber Theater: In This House (October 15 – November 6), which, with music by Mike Reid, lyrics by Sarah Schlesinger, and a book by Jonathan Bernstein and Schlesinger, looks at the accidental meeting of two couples at very different points in their relationships; and Madeleine George’s portrait of tangled relationships in a New England college town, Seven Homeless Mammoths Wander New England (March 3-25).
