Tony nominee Marion McClinton will direct the world premiere of Cori Thomas’ Pa’s Hat: Liberian Legacy, to be presented by Pillsbury House Theatre, May 28-June 27.

In the play, a young American woman accompanies her elderly father on a nostalgic visit to the father’s homeland of Liberia, only to find themselves detained and imprisoned by a machine-gun wielding, 14 year old commander of the Liberian Army.

The cast will feature Ansa Akyea, Namir Smallwood, Regina Marie Williams, and Bruce A. Young.

McClinton received a Tony nomination for his direction of August Wilson’s King Hedley II, and additional Main Stem credits include Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom and Drowning Crow. He received a Drama Desk nomination for his production of Jitney.
