Minneapolis Musical Theatre Announces 2009-2010 Season

Minneapolis Musical Theatre has announced the schedule for their 2009-2010 season, which will include three productions at the Illusion Theater in the Hennepin Center for the Arts.

The season will open with The Great American Trailer Park Musical, November 6-22, a campy David Nehls-Betsy Kelso musical fable, complete with adultery, strippers, murderous ex-boyfriends, and a trashy Greek chorus of trailer park divas. Steven J. Meerdink will direct with musical direction by Kevin Hansen.

Big River: The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn will follow, March 5-21. The Roger Miller-William Hauptman adaptation of Mark Twain’s classic book will be directed by Meerdink, with musical direction by Lori Maxwell. The season will close with the award winning classic, Mame, June 4-20, with book by Jerome Lawrence and Robert E. Lee and music and lyrics by Jerry Herman. The musical follows Mame Dennis, an eccentric socialite who finds her chaotic Manhattan lifestyle turned upside down when she is appointed guardian of her orphaned nephew Patrick. Meerdink will direct with musical direction by Maxwell.
