Donna Murphy Joins Cast of Disney's Animated Rapunzel

Two-time Tony Award winner Donna Murphy will give voice to the witch Mother Gothel in Disney's animated film, Rapunzel, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The film will be directed by Byron Howard and Nathan Greno, and feature music by two-time Tony nominee Alan Menken. Mandy Moore will voice the title role, while Zachary Levi has been cast as the bandit who rescues Rapunzel from the tower. The movie will be presented in 3D, with a release date planned for next year's holiday season.

Murphy won Tonys for her performances in The King and I and Passion and received Tony nominations for LoveMusik and Wonderful Town. Previous film and television credits include Trust Me, The Nanny Diaries, World Trade Center, and Spider-Man 2.
