Scarlett Johansson to Star in John Carney’s Can a Song Save Your Life? Movie

Tony Award winner Scarlett Johansson will star in Can a Song Save Your Life?, according to a report in The Sunday Business Post Online. John Carney is writing and directing the project.

The film centers on a washed-up recording executive who forms a passionate bond with a young singer-songwriter (to be played Johansson).

Johansson won a Tony Award for Best Featured Actress in a Play for her performance in A View From the Bridge. Among her many film credits are Iron Man 2, Match Point, Lost in Translation, Girl With a Pearl Earring and the forthcoming The Avengers.

Carney also wrote and directed the movie musical Once, which as previously announced, is being adapted as a stage musical and will be seen at New York Theatre Workshop during the 2011-2012 season.
