 | | Brandon Ruckdashel | The Next Big Thing, a world premiere garage rock musical with music and lyrics by members of indie band Breech, will play July 19-August 16 at art/works Theatre on Santa Monica Boulevard. The show is co-directed by Jeff Favre, who wrote the book, and Rachel Maize.
The show, which is set in 1983, concerns Chip and his budding garage band, who are looking for the new sound that will take them to the next level -- much to the dismay of Chip's mom, Melissa - a singer-songwriter from the 1960s with a checkered past and a belief that good music is more than a simple hook.
The show will star Brandon Ruckdashel, Missy Gibson, Matisha Baldwin, Jason Director, Michael Thompson, Heather Belling, Curt Bonnem, Lisa May, and Ellen D. Williams. It features set design by Davis Campbell, costume design by Sharell Martin, and lighting design by Matt Richter.
