Sebastian Stan to Play Bucky in Captain America Film

Broadway veteran and Gossip Girl star Sebastian Stan will play the role of Bucky Barnes in the film The First Avenger: Captain America, according to a report in Variety.

Chris Evans will star in the film as Steve Rogers/Captain America. Stan’s character is Cap’s sidekick in World War II. In the Marvel comic book series, Bucky goes on to become first a brainwashed covert assassin for the Russians codenamed the Winter Soldier, and eventually succeeds Rogers as Captain America.

Stan played Kent in the Broadway production of Talk Radio. He played the recurring role of Carter Baizen on CW’s Gossip Girl. As previously reported, he will appear in the forthcoming thriller The Apparition.
