Tim Miller will debut his new autobiographical solo performance piece, Lay of the Land at Highways Performance Space, in Los Angeles, May 15-23.
According to Miller, "The piece friskily gets at the feeling of gay folks being perpetually on trial, on the ballot, on the menu...that invades this queer life."
Miller is a gay male performance artist whose previous works include My Queer Body, Naked Breath, Glory Box, and US. He gained international notoriety in 1990 as one of the "NEA Four," whose National Endowment for the Arts grants were denied them due to the supposedly "obscene" content of their work. He is also the author of the books Shirts & Skin, Body Blows, and 1001 Beds, with the latter receiving the 2007 Lambda Literary Award for best book in Drama-Theatre.
