Tony Award nominee Alex Timbers will direct the movie adaptation of Dale E. Basye’s Heck.

Timbers received a Tony nomination for his direction of Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson. Among his other credits are The Pee Wee Herman Show on Broadway as well as Gutenberg! The Musical!, Boozy, and A Very Merry Unauthorized Children’s Scientology Pageant. He also co-directed, with Roger Rees, Peter and The Starcatcher, which, as previously announced, is scheduled to open on Broadway in April.

Basye’s book is a reimagining of Dante’s Inferno for young people, centering on a brother and sister who die in a freak marshmallow accident, and are consigned to life in Heck.
