Five Easy Pieces Actor Susan Anspach Dies at 75

Actor Susan Anspach, best known for her roles in such films as Five Easy Pieces and Play It Again, Sam, died at her Los Angeles home on Monday, April 2, from coronary problems, according to her son, Caleb Goddard. She was 75.
Before launching her film career, Anspach performed in several Broadway and off-Broadway productions, including the original 1967 off-Broadway production of Hair. She replaced Jill O'Hara in the role of Sheila, and was subsequently replaced by Lynn Kellogg for the 1968 Broadway mounting. Off-Broadway, Anspach also performed in A View From the Bridge with Jon Voight and Robert Duvall, The Journey of the Fifth Horse with Dustin Hoffman, and A Midsummer Night's Dream. She made her Broadway debut in 1965 in Terrence McNally's And Things That Go Bump in the Night.
Anspach was married to actor Mark Goddard from 1970-78, and had a son, Caleb Goddard, who was born in 1970. She also had a daughter, Catherine Goddard, with her former Hair castmate Steve Curry. Anspach is survived by both of her children, as well as three grandchildren and a brother, Robert Anspach.
