According to Variety, stage veterans Amy Adams (Into the Woods) and Jake Gyllenhaal (Constellations) are in talks to star in fashion designer Tom Ford's upcoming thriller Nocturnal Animals, his second film as director following his 2009 project, A Single Man.

Ford will write, direct, and produce along with George Clooney and Grant Heslov through their Smokehouse Pictures banner. The story is based on Austin Wright's novel Tony and Susan, which follows a woman named Susan who receives a book manuscript from her ex-husband asking for her opinion 20 years after leaving him. The manuscript, titled Nocturnal Animals, tells the story of a man whose family vacation turns violent and deadly.

Adams is a five-time Oscar nominee. In 2012, she starred as the Baker's Wife in the Public Theater's Shakespeare in the Park production of Into the Woods. Gyllenhaal recently concluded his run in the Broadway production of Nick Payne's Constellations at MTC's Samuel J. Friedman Theatre.
