Broadway Veteran Frank Bayer Dies at 74

Actor, stage manager, and production supervisor Frank Bayer passed away on September 22. He was 74.


As an actor, Bayer’s Broadway credits included Danton’s Death in 1965 and The Country Wife in 1966. He also stage managed a number of Broadway productions, including The Little Foxes (1968), The Merchant of Venice ( 1973), and Habeas Corpus (1976). He was also the production supervisor of numerous Broadway shows, most recently Stand-Up Tragedy in 1990.

From 1980 to 2005, Bayer worked with the Center Theatre Group in Los Angeles, primarily in the capacities of casting director and production supervisor. Among the productions he worked on were the world premieres of Landford Wilson’s Burn This, Neil Simon’s Proposals, and August Wilson’s Radio Golf.
