Winner of six LA Weekly Awards including Musical of the Year, Re-Animator The Musical will present a limited run at Hayworth Theatre, April 26-July 8. Stuart Gordon will direct.

Based on the 1985 film, Re-Animator, in turn based upon an H.P. Lovecraft story, the musical tells the tale of a brilliant young medical student who has created serum that can bring the dead back to life. Unfortunately, his quest for fresh subjects results in the murders of half the faculty of the medical school. Re-Animator's book is by Dennis Paoli, Stuart Gordon, and William J. Norris, and music and lyrics are by Mark Nutter.

The production will feature original cast members George Wendt (the Dean), Chris L. (Dan Cain), Jesse Merlin (Dr. Carl Hill), Rachel Avery (Meg), Graham Skipper (Herbert West), Mark Beltzman, Cynthia Carle, Brian Gillespie, Marlon Grace, and Liesel Hanson.

Musical direction will be by Peter Adams, with choreography by Cynthia Carle. The design team will include Laura Fine Hawkes (set design), Joe Kucharski (costume design), and Jeff Ravitz (lighting design).

Special effects will be by Tony Doublin, John Naulin, and John Buechler, the same people who created the effects for the 1985 film, as well as Greg McDougal and Tom Devlin.
