Whoopi Goldberg to Appear on Glee

Multi-award-winning star Whoopi Goldberg has booked a multiepisode role on the hit FOX series Glee, according to published reports.


She will play Carmen Tibideaux, a theater veteran and professor at NYDA, the fictional New York drama school that Rachel (Lea Michele) and Kurt (Chris Colfer) have applied to. She will first appear on May 1.


Goldberg is currently represented on Broadway as the producer of Sister Act and co-starred in the show’s West End production. She received a Drama Desk and Theatre World Award for her 1985 Broadway solo show Whoopi Goldberg, and has also starred on Broadway in Xanadu, A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom, and Whoopi.


She has won numerous awards during her career, including the Academy Award for her work in Ghost, a Daytime Emmy for her work as co-host of The View, and a Grammy Award.


Glee returns to the air on April 10. It also stars Matthew Morrison, Jane Lynch, Cory Monteith, Dianna Agron, Naya Rivera, Heather Morris, Amber Riley, Mark Salling, Jenna Ushkowitz, Jayma Mays, and Darren Criss.
