Casting has been announced for Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa’s Doctor Cerberus, to run April 11 – May 2 on the Julianne Argyros Stage at South Coast Repertory. Bart DeLorenzo will direct the production.

Set in the suburbs of Washington, D.C., in the mid-1980s, the play is a coming-of-age story about a geeky, overweight teenager who finds comfort in the horror movies he watches every Saturday at midnight on a black-and-white TV set in his basement. The films are introduced by the enigmatic Doctor Cerberus, and the teen dreams of becoming the TV host’s assistant.

The company will feature Brett Ryback (Franklin), Steven Culp (Franklin’s dad), Candy Buckley (Franklin’s mom), Jarrett Sleeper (Rodney,) and Jamison Jones (Doctor Cerberus and others).

The creative team includes Keith Mitchell (set design), Shigeru Yaji (costume design), Rand Ryan (lighting design), and Steven Cahill (sound design).
