Sybil Christopher is stepping down as artistic director of the Bay Street Theatre in Sag Harbor, Long Island after 20 years, but will remain on as a consultant.
"I've been thinking about it for a long time," said Christopher in a statement, "but I wasn't sure when or how to do it…maybe I should be carried out feet first Every summer I was beginning to feel like I was missing out on family adventures. I also want to do some traveling but also it is time to slow down a bit and enjoy myself."
As previously reported, Bay Street Theatre plans to depart its current location on the Long Wharf in Sag Harbor when its lease is up in May, 2013. It is looking for a new permanent home location in the Sag Harbor area, although it may present its 22nd season in 2013 at a temporary facility.
