Connie Fisher to Headline Wonderful Town on U.K. Tour

Connie Fisher will play Ruth Sherwood in a U.K. tour of Wonderful Town after the production’s previously announced premiere at the Lowry, March 31-April 14, according to Whatsonstage.com.

Subsequent tour venues include Milton Keynes Theatre, Sheffield’s Lyceum Theatre, the Theatre Royal, Nottingham, Birmingham Hippodrome, the Mayflower Theatre, Southampton, Newcastle’s Theatre Royal, New Victoria Theatre, Woking, the Theatre Royal, Plymouth, and the Wales Millennium Centre in Cardiff.

Royal Exchange artistic director Braham Murray will stage the musical, which will feature The Hallé Orchestra, conducted by their musical director, Mark Elder. No additional casting has been announced.


The show, based on the play My Sister Eileen, features a book by Joseph Fields and Jerome Chodorov, music by Leonard Bernstein, and lyrics by Betty Comden and Adolph Green.

Fisher is best known for playing the role of Maria von Trapp in the West End and touring productions of The Sound of Music.
