Dean-Charles Chapman To Be New London Billy Elliot

By: Andy Propst · Nov 20, 2009  · London

Twelve-year-old Dean-Charles Chapman will return to the London cast of Billy Elliot the Musical at the West End Victoria Palace Theatre to play the title role on November 23. Dean re-joins the show where, aged seven, he played Small Boy in the original cast and last year he came back to play Billy's best friend Michael.

Chapman will join Oliver Gardner and Fox Jackson-Keen in rotation as Billy, and the full cast as of November 30 will also feature Joanna Riding (Mrs Wilkinson), Joe Caffrey (Dad), Craig Gallivan (Tony), Ann Emery (Grandma), David Nellist (George), Sean Kingsley (Mr Braithwaite), Samantha Seager (Dead Mum), and Barnaby Meredith (Older Billy), along with Connor Kelly, George Maycock and Jake Pratt who alternate the role of Michael, and Emily Smith, Fleur Houdijk, and Francesca Mango (10 years old from Northumberland) who alternate the role of Debbie.

Based on the 2000 film of the same name, the show tells the tale of a young boy with a dream of being a dancer. The musical features music by Elton John, book and lyrics by Lee Hall, direction by Stephen Daldry, and choreography by Peter Darling.

In related news, the London production of Billy Elliot has also announced that it is now booking through December 2010.
