Award-winning composer Charles Strouse will embark on a tour of the United Kingdom, September 17-23. Part of Strouse's year-long 80th birthday celebration, he will pay tribute to his 50 years of composing for theater, film, and television, and promote the release of his new book, Put On a Happy Face - A Broadway Memoir.
Tour highlights will include a reading of his book at Dress Circle Showbiz Shop in London, September 17; a private address to up and coming musical theater writers at Mercury Musical Developments, September 18; a live birthday celebration concert at the Mermaid Theatre, featuring Paul Nicholas, Bonnie Langford, Rosemary Ashe, and Jacinta Whyte, with Martin Yates conducting the BBC Concert Orchestra, September 19; another appearance at the Dress Circle Showbiz Shop, September 20; a visit to the UK Annie tour at the Everyman Theatre in Cheltenham, September 22; and an appearance on Elaine Paige's "Spotlight On..." series at the Shaw Theatre, September 23.
Strouse is a three-time Tony winner for his scores to Bye Bye Birdie, Applause, and Annie. He was also Tony-nominated for Golden Boy, Charlie and Algernon, Rags, and Nick and Nora.
