PHOTO FLASH: Russ Abbott, Tim Rice, Liz Robertson, and More Celebrate Alan Jay Lerner at St. Paul’s Church Covent Garden
Actress Liz Robertson unveiled a plaque dedicated to her late husband, theatrical legend Alan Jay Lerner, during a service held at St. Paul’s Church Covent Garden in London on June 14.
The event celebrated Lerner’s life and work with performances from some of the playwright-lyricist’s most famous shows.
Highlights included Russ Abbott singing “With a Little Bit of Luck” from My Fair Lady, backed by the West End Chorus; Tim Rice singing “Wandrin’ Star” from Paint Your Wagon, backed by Cantabile, and Robertson, Katie Knight-Adams, Jill Martin, Jean Scott, Amy Nuttall, and Sally Ann Howes — all of whom have played Eliza in My Fair Lady at various times over the last fifty years — singing “Wouldn’t it be Loverly.”
The event was directed by Hugh Woolridge, with musical direction by David Firman and Jason Carr.
