Stephen Fry, David Tennant, Emma Thompson Set for Sky Arts’ Playhouse Presents Series

Sky Arts has announced the writers and initial casting for Playhouse Presents, a new series of comedies and dramas, according to published reports. The initiative is an extension of the channel’s previous Sky Arts Playhouse and Theatre Live! series.

Among the pieces that will be broadcast as part of Playhouse Presents is Walking the Dogs, which centers on the real-life story of the evening a man broke into Buckingham Palace, entered the Queen’s boudoir and chatted with her until the police took him away. Emma Thompson will play Queen Elizabeth II. The program will also feature Russell Tovey and Eddie Marsan.


Other offerings in the series will be King of The Teds by Jim Cartwright, featuring Tom Jones, Brenda Blethyn and Alison Steadman; Will Self’s The Minor Character, which will star David Tennant; The Man, featuring Stephen Fry, Stellan Skarsgard, and Zoe Wanamaker; The Other Woman, which will have a cast that includes Geraldine James, Richard E Grant and Trevor Eve; City Hall, which will star Olivia Williams and Martin Shaw, Care, which will feature Gina McKee, and Nixon’s the One, which will feature Harry Shearer in the title role..
