 | | Marti Pellow | David Bedella, Marti Pellow, and Clarke Peters will join previously announced stars Idina Menzel, Josh Groban, Kerry Ellis, and Adam Pascal in the Royal Albert Hall concert presentation of the musical Chess, May 12-13 in London. Additional casting will be announced at a later date.
Chess involves a romantic triangle between two players in a World Chess Championship, and the woman who manages one and falls in love with the other.
Tim Rice, who wrote the show's lyrics, will introduce the concert.
Bedella, who will play Molokov, won the Olivier Award for his portrayal of Satan in Jerry Springer: The Opera and recently appeared in the show's New York concert staging. Pellow, who will play the Arbiter, is best known as a pop singer, and appeared on Broadway in Chicago. Peters, who will play Walter, has starred in such shows as The Gershwin's Porgy & Bess and Driving Miss Daisy.
Menzel, who will play Florence, won the 2004 Tony Award for Best Actress in a Musical for her role as Elphaba in Wicked. Her other stage credits include Rent and The Wild Party. Groban, who will play Anatoly, is a top-selling recording artist, whose CDs include Closer and Awake. Ellis, who will play Svetlana, starred in the London production of Wicked. Pascal, who will play Frederick Trumper, starred on Broadway in Rent and Aida.
