Pete Postlethwaite Dies at 64

Academy Award-nominated actor and stage veteran Pete Postlethwaite has died after a battle with cancer, according to a report in The New York Times. He was 64.

Postlethwaite most recently appeared on stage in the U.K. playing the title role in King Lear. Among his many other theater credits are Favourite Nights, Having a Ball, The Rise and Fall of Little Voice, Richard II, and The Duchess of Malfi, as well as the solo show Scaramouche Jones.

He received an Oscar nomination for his performance in In the Name of the Father. Among his other film credits are The Omen, Red Mercury,The Lost World: Jurassic Park, Amistad, and Inception.

Among the performer’s other are honors are an OBE which he received in 2004.

He is survived by his wife, son, and daughter.
